DUBAI: After failing to make a cut in the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I Team of the Year 2023, no Pakistan player could make it into the recently unveiled ICC Men’s ODI and Test Teams of the Year 2023.
The apex cricketing body on Tuesday, recognized 11 players each from across the globe, who impressed with either their batting, bowling or all-round exploits throughout 2023 in Tests and ODIs.
Australia’s all-format captain Pat Cummins was named the skipper of the ICC Test Team of the Year 2023, majorly dominated by his compatriots.

Besides Cummins, four more members of the Australian squad, which won the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23, were included in the Test Team of the Year, namely Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc.
The lineup further features two Indians — Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin — and two Englishmen — Joe Root and Stuart Broad.
Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson were the other players inducted into the Test Team of the Year 2023.

The ICC also announced the ODI Team of the Year 2023 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
Despite ending up on the losing side in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia, the Men in Blue dominated the ODI Team of the Year at the back of sublime collective and individual performances in the previous year.
India’s Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami accompanied their national team’s captain Rohit.
The ODI Team of the Year 2023 further features Australia’s Travis Head and Adam Zampa, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell.

Earlier this week, the ICC also unveiled the Men’s T20I Team of the Year 2023 which too, did not feature a single Pakistan player.
