MIRPUR: Bangladesh wicketkeeper batter Nurul Hasan took the internet by storm by calling former Pakistan captain and ace batter Babar Azam “The King” during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.
Hasan, who is leading Rangpur Riders in the ongoing edition of the BPL, was asked to share any changes to his lineup after he won the toss and elected to field first.
The Riders captain answered presenter Athar Ali Khan’s question and shared the update by calling Babar Azam the King.
“Yeah obviously, the King Babar is in and Ripon Mondol [too],” said Hasan.
"Obviously King Babar is in for the match"

Notably, Babar is one of the top batters in the world and is often compared with the likes of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson.
For his unreal consistency, he is also called “The King” by a large number of fans.
Meanwhile, the star batter made his mark in his first appearance in the ongoing BPL 2024 with a match-winning half-century.
Representing Rangpur Riders, Babar scored a crucial half-century in the run chase and powered the side to a hard-fought victory against Sylhet Superstars.
Coming out to bat as an opener, Babar carried his bat all the way through and steered his side over the line after finding much-needed support at the other end in the form of Azmatullah Omarzai.

The Riders after a shaky start, lost wickets at an alarming rate and had eventually slipped to 39/6 in the pursuit of a modest 121-run target.
But Babar Azam stood his ground firm and kept the scoreboard ticking.
He put together an unbeaten 86-run partnership with Omarzai, who scored a brisk 47 off 35 deliveries.
On the tricky surface of the Shere Bangla National Stadium here, where most of the Riders’ batters found it difficult to score freely, Babar batted with relative ease and registered a well-crafted half-century.
He smashed six boundaries on his way to top score for the Riders with a 49-ball 56.
