SYDNEY: Pakistan captain Shan Masood revealed the reason for resting vice-captain Shaheen Afridi for the final Test of the three-match series against Australia on Tuesday.
Pakistan have made two changes for the Sydney Test, starting tomorrow, with uncapped Saim Ayub replacing Imam-ul-Haq and off-spinner Sajid Khan replacing vice-captain Shaheen Afridi.
Shan Masood while talking to the media today opened up about the workload of star pace bowler Shaheen Afridi.
“Shaheen Afridi has bowled most overs in world cricket in recent times. He gives his 150% in the training sessions as well. He keeps motivating his teammates. He is our main player. We’ll make sure we look after Shaheen Afridi really well,” said Shan Masood.
Shaheen Afridi has bowled 99.2 overs during the first two Test matches, which is the most by any bowler in the series.

Shan Masood also showed faith that star batter Babar Azam will ‘score big’ in the final Test against Australia.
“Babar Azam is our main player. We have no concerns over his performance. His approach is positive. He is practising for hours in the nets and has great fitness. I am looking forward to him scoring big in the Sydney Test,” he further added.
Babar Azam has struggled during the Test series so far, scoring a total of 77 runs across four innings.
For the unversed, Australia have attained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after defeating Pakistan in the second Test.
