David Warner appeals on social media for missing baggy green ahead of his farewell Test

SYDNEY: Australian opening batter David Warner has made an appeal on social media for the return of his backpack carrying his baggy green cap, which was lost during the journey from Melbourne to Sydney ahead of his farewell Test.

The 37-year-old left-hander, who will play his final Test at his home ground of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) against Pakistan from tomorrow, took to Instagram as his last resort for getting his treasured baggy green.

“Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport,” Warner wrote on Instagram with a video.

He also stated that he had already checked the CCTV cameras of the airlines as well as the team hotel to no avail.

“If you are the person, who was either working for the company driving it to and from the airport and have, by chance, just wanted the backpack, I have one for. I would be grateful if this were returned asap. Thanks,” the post concluded.

“Please reach out to Cricket Australia or myself via my social media and I’m happy to give this to you if you return my baggy greens,” Warner added in the video.

Nick Hockley, the Cricket Australia CEO also supported Warner’s stance and appealed for the return of his baggy green.

“I implore anyone with information about the location of Dave’s bag and baggy green caps to come forward so he can proudly wear his cap for a final time at the SCG,” said Hockley.

For the unversed, Australia have attained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after defeating Pakistan in the second Test.
