DURBAN: Heinrich Klaasen smashed a quickfire 85 to power home side Durban Super Giants to a narrow 11-run victory against MI Cape Town in the rain-affected second match of SA20 on Thursday.
Put into bat first, MI Cape Town notched up a massive total of 207/5 on the board, courtesy of a magnificent half-century by Ryan Rickelton.
Rickelton put together an 87-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen to give Cape Town a steady start.
He was the core aggressor of the important opening stand while van der Dussen rotated the strike before perishing after scoring a 20-ball 24.

Cape Town then lost their way in the middle as Dewald Brewis (5) and Connor Esterhuizen (17) fell cheaply but Rickelton kept the scoreboard ticking singlehandedly.
The wicketkeeper batter, however, had an agonizing end to his marvellous knock as he fell just 13 shy of his well-deserved century.
He remained the top-scorer for the MI Cape Town with a sensational 87, which came off 51 deliveries and featured six boundaries and as many sixes.
Skipper Kieron Pollard added vital runs for his team at the backend with a brisk 31-run cameo. He took just 14 deliveries and hit four boundaries and a six.
Keemo Paul led the bowling attack for Durban Super Giants with two wickets while Richard Gleeson, Keshav Maharaj and Dwaine Pretorius made one scalp each.

Set to chase a mammoth 208, Durban Super Giants scored 177/6 in 16.3 before rain intervened.
The home side was 11 runs ahead of the DLS par score and thus started their SA20 with a victory.
Heinrich Klaasen played a pivotal role in his side’s triumph as he played a swashbuckling 85-run knock in just 35 deliveries. He smashed four boundaries and eight sixes.
Besides him, Matthew Breetzke was the other notable run-getter for the Super Giants with a 24-ball 39.
Kagiso Rabada bagged two wickets for MI Cape Town while Liam Livingstone, Olly Stone, Sam Curran and Beuran Hendricks made one scalp each.
