Misbah-ul-Haq suggests technical adjustment in Saim Ayub’s batting

Former Pakistan captain and coach Misbah-ul-Haq has suggested young batter Saim Ayub make an adjustment to his batting technique following his Test debut against Australia in Sydney.

Saim Ayub replaced Imam-ul-Haq in Pakistan’s lineup for the Sydney Test, however, he bagged a duck in the first innings, falling prey to Josh Hazlewood.

The second innings then witnessed his batting talent, where he scored 33 runs from 53 balls with the help of three boundaries and one six before Nathan Lyon ended his entertaining knock.

Saim Ayub earned praise from fans and former cricketers for his batting performance in the second innings.

Misbah-ul-Haq also appreciated the 21-year-old batter for his brief knock against a tough Australian bowling attack.

The former captain took to his official Facebook account and shared a video praising Saim Ayub for his batting, however, he also pointed out a flaw in his batting which can be sorted with a slight adjustment.

“He displayed excellent temperament, attacking the Australian bowlers during his brief innings. It seems he can assert dominance over the opposition and perform consistently for Pakistan,” Misbah-ul-Haq said in the video.

“A minor adjustment is necessary in Ayub’s technique concerning the fuller deliveries from both pacers and spinners, as his front leg tends to move across slightly, potentially causing issues. His dismissal hints at a similar concern,” Misbah added.

Pakistan lost the third Test by eight wickets as Australia completed the 3-0 whitewash and extended their undefeated streak against the visitors at home.
