SHARJAH: Akeal Hosein returned exceptional figures of 4/23 and powered MI Emirates to a thumping 106-run victory over Sharjah Warriors in the ninth match of the ILT20 here on Friday.
Put into bat first, MI Emirates registered a commendable total of 180/7 on the board, courtesy of a combined effort from their batters.
The Emirates had a contrasting start to their innings as their opener Muhammad Waseem (0) fell victim to Chris Woakes on the second delivery of the innings.
Andre Fletcher then paired up with Kusal Perera and stitched a 93-run stand for the second wicket before both fell on consecutive deliveries, scoring 42 each.

Fletcher conceded 31 deliveries and smashed four boundaries and two sixes while Perera’s knock featured three boundaries and three sixes.
Skipper Nicholas Pooran then took the reigns of MI Emirates’ batting charge and put together brief partnerships with Ambadi Rayadu (7) and Tim David (20) before finally perishing in the final over.
He scored 37 off 29 deliveries with the help of one boundary and two sixes.
In pursuit of the 181-run target, the Warriors’ batting lineup failed and could yield 74 runs before bundling out in the 13th over.
Wicketkeeper batter Niroshan Dickwella remained the top-scorer for the Warriors with a 13-ball 23.

Martin Guptill (17) and Lewis Gregory (10) were the other notable run-getters for the Warriors while the rest of their batters failed to make it into the double figures.
Akeal Hosein led the bowling attack for MI Emirates with four wickets while Trent Boult and Waqar Salamkheil bagged two each.
Fazalhaq Farooqi and Dwayne Bravo, on the other hand, made one scalp each.
The crushing 106-run victory propelled MI Emirates to the top of the ILT20 standings with six points in four matches while Sharjah Warriors remained at fifth with two points in three matches.
