DURBAN: Junior Dala backed Matthew Breetzke’s quickfire half-century with a five-wicket haul and powered Durban’s Super Giants to a narrow victory over Pretoria Capitals in the 24th match of the SA20 here on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, Durban’s Super Giants posted a commendable total of 174/9 on the board, courtesy of Breetzke’s blitz at the top of the order.
Breetzke went after the Capitals’ bowlers right from the start and put together brief partnerships with Quinton de Kock (16) before finally perishing in the 12th over.
He smashed 10 boundaries and three sixes on his to top score for the Super Giants with a 50-ball 73.
The home side then began to lose wickets at regular intervals which stopped the flow of runs.

However, Naveen-ul-Haq gave the Super Giants’ total a late push with his 10-run cameo which came off just three deliveries.
Daryn Dupavillon and Senuran Muthusamy picked up three wickets each for the Capitals while Adil Rashid, Wayne Parnell and Will Jacks struck out a batter apiece.
In return, Pretoria Capitals fell just eight runs short as they accumulated 166/9 in the allotted overs.
Openers Will Jacks gave the visitors a promising start with his brisk knock.
He carried his bat till the eighth over and perished after scoring 41. His 26-ball featured five boundaries and two sixes.

Jacks’ departure ignited a middle-order collapse, inflicted by Junior Dala, who struck in quick successions.
Spinner Adil Rashid made great efforts to snatch the victory for the Capitals with his determined cameo but came up short. He remained unbeaten on 19.
Dala led the bowling charge for the Super Giants with 5/26 while Norr Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq and Wiaan Mulder.
The eight-run victory strengthened Durban’s Super Giants’ grip at the summit of SA20 standings while Pretoria Capitals remained fifth.
