WELLINGTON: Troy Johnson left everyone awestruck when he made an extraordinary fielding effort and combined with Nick Kelly to take an astounding catch at the boundary during the 22nd match of Super Smash on Saturday.
The viral catch was taken on the second delivery of Central District’s run chase.
Wellington pacer Michael Snedden bowled a fuller delivery to Will Young, who launched the ball upwards and towards the long-on boundary. The ball had the elevation but not enough power.

Troy Johnson, who was fielding at mid-on, started to chase the ball as soon as it was launched off Young’s bat and judged it with perfection. He dived forward and took a stunning running catch just by the boundary rope.
Although he had possession of the ball within the boundary, his momentum would have carried him past the rope.
Troy Johnson had a fraction of a second to throw the ball back on time and he did exactly that while sliding over the ropes.
Luckily for Wellington, Nick Kelly was following Johnson and was in a perfect spot to gobble the ball to complete a splendid catch.

Despite a stunning catch, Wellington succumbed to a six-wicket defeat against Central Districts.
Opening batter Jack Boyle played a pivotal role in Districts’ triumph, courtesy of a well-crafted half-century.
He remained the top-scorer in the pursuit with a 43-ball 57 which featured 10 boundaries.
Doug Bracewell then gave final touches to the run chase with a quickfire 30-run cameo. He conceded just 11 deliveries and smashed four sixes.
