Nat Sciver-Brunt claims consecutive ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year awards

DUBAI: England’s all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award for the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the second consecutive year on Thursday.

Nat Sciver-Brunt faced a strong challenge from Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and the Australian pair of Ash Gardner and Beth Mooney, however, she overcame them to win the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for 2023.

Sciver-Brunt won the prestigious award on the back of her stellar performances throughout the year, accumulating 894 runs in 18 matches across formats as well as picking up nine wickets.

While she was equally good in each of the formats, Sciver-Brunt bossed the 50-over format as she scored 393 runs at an average of 131 in six matches with the help of three centuries.

Her three centuries brought her ODI hundred’s tally to eight, just one behind the national record of nine, jointly held by Tammy Beaumont and Charlotte Edwards.

Notably, she was the highest run-getter for England in this Women’s T20 World Cup, scoring 216 runs at a strike rate of 141.17.
