Australia’s top-order batter David Warner is set to land at the outfield of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from a helicopter to feature in the Sydney Thunder’s game against Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) on 12 January.
David Warner will reach the stadium on a helicopter after attending his brother’s wedding in the Hunter Valley.
He will take an early leave from the wedding ceremony and reach Cessnock Airport, from where he will take a 45-minute helicopter ride to land at the venue for the Sydney derby.
The 37-year-older will play his first competitive match after playing his farewell Test at the same ground against Pakistan last week.

Warner was originally planned to land at nearby Allianz Stadium, however, it was ruled out, resulting in the plan to land at SCG.
Sean Abbott, who will play against Warner in the match, jokingly called this stunt ‘a bit Hollywood.’
“He is a bit Hollywood, isn’t he, that’s very Davey. I got the Lime bike in today and I’ll be doing the same tomorrow night and riding out the gate as Davey lands,” said Abbott.
“I’m glad they are making it happen because think everyone in the country who is a fan of cricket wants to see David Warner in the BBL and I’m really looking forward to coming up against him. One of the best players in the world and has been for a long time,” he added.
