KARACHI: All-rounder Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana scored gutsy half-centuries and recovered Pakistan to 168 after a disastrous start against South Africa in the second PAKW vs SAW ODI on Monday.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan Women could accumulate 168 before being bundled out in the 45th over despite gritty half-centuries by Fatima Sana and Aliya Riaz.
The hosts got off to a dismal start to their innings as Nadine de Klerk ran through their top order, resulting in them slipping to 49/6 in just 17.4 overs.
Following the slump, Aliya Riaz was joined by Fatima Sana at the crease and the pair launched an astounding recovery. Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana batted sensibly to put together a fighting 114-run stand with both scoring half-centuries.
Fatima was the core aggressor of the anchoring seventh-wicket partnership before finally perishing in the 43rd over.

She remained the top-scorer for Pakistan in the second PAKW vs SAW ODI with an 87-ball 69 which featured 10 boundaries.
Pakistan then lost two more wickets in successive overs with their another mainstay Aliya Riaz walking back to the pavilion in the 45th over to leave Pakistan reeling at 168/9.
In-form Aliya Riaz played a gritty 53-run knock in 86 deliveries with the help of three boundaries.
Masabata Klaas then castled Pakistan’s number 11 Sadia Iqbal for a golden duck to wrap up Pakistan’s innings in the second PAKW vs SAW ODI.
Nadine de Klerk led the bowling attack for South Africa with 4/32 in her eight overs, followed by Klaas, returning with 3/14.
Ayabonga Khaka bagged two wickets for just 21 runs while Nonkululeko Mlaba had one wicket to her name.
